Warnings: 

Extremely high fire danger conditions are expected in places over the central and eastern parts of the Northern Cape, Central Karoo, interior of the Garden Route of the Western Cape, the interior and northern parts of the Eastern Cape, central and western parts of the Free State and North-West and south-western parts of KwaZulu-Natal.

Special weather advisories

Extremely hot conditions are expected in places over the eastern parts of the Northern Cape, Central Karoo of the Western Cape as well as interior and northern parts of the Eastern Cape.

Heatwave conditions with persistently high temperatures are expected in places over the eastern parts of the Northern Cape, Free State, North-West and Gauteng from Tuesday until Friday though it is expected until Thursday for the Eastern Cape.

Weather forecast and UV index for all provinces

Gauteng: Fine and hot becoming partly cloudy in the afternoon.

UVB sunburn index: Extreme.

Mpumalanga: Morning fog patches over the escarpment, otherwise partly cloudy and warm but hot over the lowveld. Isolated showers and thundershowers are possible in places over the highveld.

Limpopo: Morning fog patches over the escarpment, otherwise fine and warm to hot. It will become partly cloudy in the east from afternoon.

North-West Province: Very hot in the extreme west, otherwise fine and hot.

Free State: Very hot in the extreme north-west, otherwise fine and hot.

Northern Cape: Morning fog along the coast where it will become partly cloudy and cool, otherwise fine and hot to very hot. The wind along the coast will be light southerly to south-easterly, becoming fresh late morning.

Western Cape: Cloudy to partly cloudy and cool to warm along the coastlines and adjacent interior with misty conditions along the west and south-west coastlines at first, otherwise hot to very hot with high-level clouds. It will be extremely hot over the Central Karoo. The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh westerly to south-westerly, but northerly to north-westerly along the west and south-west coast for the first half of the day.

UVB index: Very high.

Western half of the Eastern Cape: Partly cloudy and cool along the coast otherwise fine and hot to very hot but extremely hot in places in the north. Isolated thunderstorms are expected in the north-east. The wind along the coast will be Moderate to fresh south westerly.

Eastern half of the Eastern Cape: Partly cloudy and warm along the coast otherwise fine and hot to very hot. Isolated thunderstorms are expected in places over the interior. The wind along the coast will be moderate north easterly becoming south-westerly by evening.

KwaZulu-Natal: Partly cloudy with morning fog in places in the east, otherwise fine and warm to hot but very hot in places in the west. It will become partly cloudy in the west with isolated showers and thundershowers. The wind along the coast will be fresh to strong north-easterly.
