Severe Weather Alerts

IMPACT-BASED WARNINGS:

1.Yellow level 2 warning for damaging waves along the coastline between Plettenberg Bay and Cannon Rocks for Saturday late afternoon to midnight, resulting in localised disruptions to beachfront activities with small vessels being at risk of taking on water and capsizing within a locality.

FIRE DANGER WARNINGS:

1.Extremely high fire danger conditions are expected in places over Namakwa in the Northern Cape, West Coast District, Cape Winelands, Central Karoo and in places over the Little Karoo and Overberg in the Western Cape as well as Sarah Baartman DM in the Eastern Cape.

ADVISORIES:

1.Extremely hot conditions expected over Kamiesberg municipality in the Northern Cape, the interior of the West Coast, including the Cape Winelands, Central and Little Karoo in the Western Cape until Sunday. 2.Heat waves conditions are expected mainly over the southern high ground of Namakwa in the Northern Cape, Cape Winelands, places over the interior of the West Coast, Cape Metropole and Theewaterskloof LM Western Cape and Little Karoo until Sunday.

Partly cloudy and cool with isolated to scattered showers andthundershowers in the east. It will be warm over the lowveld.

Limpopo:

Temperature: Partly cloudy and warm with isolated showers and thundershowers in the east and north.

North-West Province:

Temperature: Fine and warm, becoming partly cloudy in the east.

Free State:

Temperature: Fine and cool to warm, becoming partly cloudy.

Northern Cape:

Temperature:

Fine and warm to hot, becoming partly cloudy with isolated showers and thundershowers in the west.

Wind: The wind along the coast will be fresh to strong southerly to south-easterly.

Western Cape:

Temperature:

Cloudy along the south coast with morning fog patches, otherwise fineand very hot to extremely hot. It will become partly cloudy from theafternoon with isolated showers and thundershowers over the western and south-western interior.

Wind: The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh easterly to south-easterly.

The expected UVB Sunburn Index: Extreme.

Eastern Cape:

The Western half –Fine and hot, but warm along the coast.

The Western half – Wind: The wind along the coast will be fresh to strong north-easterly.

The Eastern half -Fine and warm.

The Eastern half Wind: The wind along the coast will be fresh to strong north-easterly.

Kwazulu-Natal:

Temperature: Partly cloudy and warm, but cool in places in the west. Isolated showers and rain are expected in the east and north.

Wind: The wind along the coast will be moderate easterly to south-easterly.
