Severe Weather Alerts

IMPACT-BASED WARNINGS:

1.A yellow level 2 warning for damaging waves leading to localised damage to coastal infrastructure and difficulty in navigation at sea is expected between Plettenberg Bay and Richards Bay in the morning.

2.A yellow level 2 warning for damaging winds leading to localised damage to informal settlements, transport disruptions and localised disruptions to beachfront activities is expected between Port Elizabeth and Durban in the morning.

FIRE DANGER WARNINGS:

1.NIL

ADVISORIES:

1. Light snow is expected over the Winterberg and Amathole mountains in the morning. The public and small stock farmers are advised to take necessary precautions.

Temperature and UVB forecast

Gauteng:

Temperature: Fine and cold, but cool in the north.

The expected UVB Sunburn Index: Extreme.

Mpumalanga:

Temperature: Fine and cold, but cool in the east.

Limpopo:

Temperature: Partly cloudy in the north east at first, otherwise fine and cool, but warm in the Limpopo Valley and Lowveld.

North-West Province:

Temperature: Fine and cold, but cool in places in the east.

Free State:

Temperature: Fine and cold.

Northern Cape:

Temperature: Morning fog in the south, otherwise fine and cold, but cool in places along the coast as well as in the north.

Wind: The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh south to south-easterly.

Western Cape:

Temperature: Fine and cold, but cool in places over the north-western parts.

Wind: The wind along the coast will be light to moderate southeasterly north of Cape Town, otherwise moderate to fresh easterly to north-easterly.

The expected UVB Sunburn Index: Moderate.

Eastern Cape:

The Western half –Light snow over the high-lying areas in the morning, otherwise partly cloudy and cold with isolated morning showers and rain in the south and east, but scattered along the coast. It will become fine from the afternoon.

The Western half -Wind: The wind along the coast will be fresh to strong southwesterly, becoming moderate to fresh north-easterly from the afternoon.

The Eastern half -Light snowfall is expected over the Amathole mountain at first, otherwise partly cloudy and cold, but very cold in places in the north-west with isolated showers and rain in the south-west. It will become fine from the evening.

The Eastern half -The wind along the coast will be strong to near gale westerly, becoming moderate to fresh south-westerly from the afternoon.

Kwazulu-Natal:

Temperature: Fine and cool but cold in the south-west. It will become partly cloudy at times.

Wind: The wind along the coast will strong to gale southerly to south-westerly south of Durban in the morning, otherwise moderate to fresh.
