Gauteng heatwave: Highs of 33C expected in parts of province, says weather service

The weather service predicts a hot week for Gauteng with both Tshwane and Johannesburg experiencing 30-degree heat by the weekend.

The South African Weather Service (SAWS) is predicting a sweltering week in Gauteng this coming week from the 24 to 30 January but the province is unlikely to experience the record-breaking heat the Western Cape was subjected to last week.

SAWS PREDICTS HOT WEEK IN GAUTENG

According to the weather service’s forecasting – at the time of writing – Tshwane will experience temperatures of 28C and higher for the entire week. The heat is expected to peak at 33C on Friday and Saturday before cooling down on Sunday.

Meanwhile, in Johannesburg, things will be slightly cooler with temperatures hovering around 28C to 29C for most of the week. Saturday is expected to be the hottest day with a high of 31C.
