Weather warnings for veld fires and damaging winds in several parts of South Africa on Wednesday.
THE WEATHER WARNINGS ARE ISSUED FOR TODAY
According to the SA Weather Service (SAWS), fire teams, labour and equipment are to be placed on standby.

“At the first sign of smoke, every possible measure should be taken to bring the fire under control in the shortest possible time.”

THESE AREAS WILL BE AFFECTED BY THE VELD FIRE WARNING
The following parts of the country will be affected by the veld fires:
- Hantam / Calvinia
- Karoo Hoogland / Sutherland
- Laingsburg
- Prince Albert
- Oudtshoorn
- Dr Beyers Naude – Baviaans / Willowmore
- Dr Beyers Naude – Graaff-Reinet / Graaff – Reinet
- Inxuba Yethemba / Cradock
- Raymond Mhlaba – Adelaide / Adelaide
- Blue Crane Route / Somerset East
- Raymond Mhlaba – Fort Beaufort / Fort Beaufort
- Nelson Mandela Bay / Gqeberha/Port Elizabeth
The SAWS warned that conditions are such that the FDI index is above 75.

“Under these conditions, fires may develop and spread rapidly, resulting in damage to property and possible loss of human and/or animal life.”

The following areas will be affected by the damaging winds warning:
- M_Mbizana / Wild Coast Sun
- M_Ngquza Hill / Mkambati
- M_Port St Johns / Port St Johns
- M_Nyandeni/King Sabata / Coffee Bay
- M_Mbhashe / The Haven
- M_Mnquma / Wavecrest
- M_Great Kei / Kei River
- M_Buffalo City / Buffalo City
“Difficulty in navigation, local disruptions within ports and harbours, small to medium size vessels breaking mooring lines in harbour.”
The SAWS advised that small / medium vessels take shelter.
