On Saturday, the South African Weather Service warned that Gauteng is set to receive storms and disruptive rainfall, while residents in the Western Cape are warned of even more flooding.
As reported by EWN, Forecaster Luthando Masimini warns that some parts of Gauteng will be hit by thunderstorms on Saturday, with clearer skies predicted for Sunday, 9 May.
“There are storms expected for Gauteng today. Currently, storms are occurring in the southwestern parts of Gauteng – Krugersdorp, Heidelberg, Vereeniging – should be receiving some lighting and rain.”
Masimini added that the storm is currently eastwards.
Residents in the Western Cape should remain on high alert as additional warnings were issued for rain and possible flooding over some parts of the province. Four people have already lost their lives as a result of the Cape storm.
Scattered showers are expected along the coast on Saturday afternoon. Emergency responders will be available across the province to assist those in distress. Sadly, many residents had to evacuate their homes this week.
On Saturday morning, a body was discovered near the main road between Malgas and Swellendam in the Overberg, after two days of the devastating Cape storm. The victim has not yet been identified.
Authorities are investigating and will release more information once the next of kin has been notified. The search for another missing person is still underway, while two residents from Bonnievale lost their lives.
