A video circulating on Twitter, of a woman pulling over at a petrol station in Lyttelton, Centurion, allegedly fearing fake cops, can be seen being brutally attacked by them.

Tweeps were up in arms, trying to figure out why the woman was there, if she really pulled over, for fear of fake cops, and the real reason as to why she was attacked.

Details of the video

The video is recorded by CCTV cameras and shows a woman on Tuesday, at approximately 23:00 at night, pulling over at a petrol station in a white polo. The caption reads that she pulled over in the light, out of fear of fake cops.

At the next pump, there is what appears to be a police van. A total of four officers can be seen coming up to the woman’s car and physically pulling her out of it, dragging her to their police van. The four officers are made up of two in police uniform and two in bright orange vests.

As seen on Twitter, the woman then puts up a fight against all the officers, kicking them and hitting them to avoid being thrown into their van.

A man in a yellow t-shirt, either known to the woman or a bystander trying to help, comes over and she, in desperation reaches out for his hand. He tries to speak to the officers but to no avail. They tell the man to stay back and he does, while they have the woman on the floor.

They eventually get the woman in handcuffs and can be seen putting her into their van, while one officer is seen telling the man to leave.

Tweeps reactions

One Twitter user said: “The police are being unnecessary, some of you are defending them but if it was 4 white cops dragging out a black woman or even a man you’d be shouting racism must fall… Let’s be consistent.”

Another user said: “What’s stopping her from complying, she will explain everything at the station,” to which other users were not impressed.

“They immediately grabbed her out of the car and gave her no chance to explain. Would you be happy to be treated that way, especially if you were a woman driving at night?”

“What if it is indeed fake cops and she was being abducted?” asked another Twitter user.

Another user rubbished the story and said: “Rubbish! That white girl didn’t fear fake cops, she broke the law and didn’t want to face the consequences whites! That police car is clearly marked, the police are in full uniform,” they said.

To which someone replied: “Lots of women have been attacked by fake police – she stopped and opened the door, why do you think she was resisting – she didn’t run away.”

“Just by looking at your profile pic I can see that you are RAW. Even the police tell us to drive to the nearest police station garage, or place where there are lights and cameras. Markings on a vehicle don’t mean they are police……talking from experience. Stop talking sh**t” another Twitter user replied.
