Malesela Teffo showed up in court ahead of the start of the Senzo Meyiwa murder trial saying he has sensitive information.

There was drama at the Gauteng High Court in Pretoria on Tuesday morning before proceedings in the Senzo Meyiwa murder trial could even start as former defence lawyer for accused 1 – 4 Malesela Teffo walked in robed and demanded to see Presiding Judge, Tshifhiwa Maumela.
It wasn’t immediately clear what Teffo was doing in court as he quit as a legal representative and was later struck off the roll of legal practitioners following a number of complaints against him.

Court proceedings were delayed after Teffo showed up in court and demanded to see Judge Maumela saying he has sensitive information that cannot be shared in an open court.
Teffo demanded that all the legal representatives should go to the judge’s chambers to discuss his presence after the judge’s clerk informed the legal representatives Maumela had instructed them to find out from their clients if they were okay with him meeting with Teffo ahead of the proceedings.

“We request to see the judge in the chambers…the reason is there are issues that cannot be discussed in an open court, worse this one is being broadcasted,” he said.
Teffo said he was flabbergasted by Maumela asking for consent from the accused saying he had never, in his career, seen a judge seeking the permission of the accused on whether to see a legal representative in the chambers.
