This is another terrible look for SAPS: A viral video of several officers manhandling and ejecting two carjacking victims from a police station in Gqeberha has spread like wildfire online, after they were allegedly refused the chance to open a case. At the end of the clip, one of the cops can be seen deploying their pepper spray.
The 140-second video shows a rapid escalation in tensions. Frustrated by the apparent lack of action behind the desk, the two women become increasingly agitated. That’s when two officers emerge to try and calm the situation.
However, the so-called peace talks amount to nothing. The footage captures the moment of the women was physically grabbed, and pushed towards the exit. As they continue their resistance, more officers join in the free for all, and the pepper spray is drawn and eventually used. What you’re about to see here is utterly chaotic…
Video 1: This incident took place at a @SAPoliceService station…It is unclear which one. The women wanted to apparently open a case. @IPID_ZA *Video as received. pic.twitter.com/1G7t2ECID3

One of the victims has since taken to her Instagram, to explain her side of the story. They claim to be ‘traumatised’ from the incident, and have since confirmed that they will be taking legal action against the Motherwell Police Station.
“We here at Motherwell Police Station. They beat us up and sprayed us with pepper spray. We simply tried to file a police report and they did not want to listen. Our eyes are a mess from the pepper spray, and they wouldn’t stop swearing at us. Things just got heated out of nowhere.”
