DA leader, Mmusi Maimane says that the Bosasa issue, concerning the controversial CR17 campaign cannot be taken lightly.

Mmusi Maimane explains ‘state capture’ was not fully exposed when the walls came crashing in for former president Jacob Zuma and the embattled Gupta family.

Maimane can be credited for lifting the lid on the shoddy-looking acquiantance between President Cyril Ramaphosa and Bosasa, the facilities management company — now operating as African Global Operations — that is said to have milked billions of rand from our public purse.

A simple “yes” or “no” to Maimane’s question about the R500 000 donation Ramaphosa had allegedly received from Bosasa’s Gavin Watson would have sufficed, but the president’s perceived omittance of his alleged knowledge of the donor has turned into a saga that’s cast a bad light on his ‘new dawn’.

In a video that he published on Twitter, Maimane warned that Zupta was not the first nor was it the last of the syndicate of cronies.

The DA leader explained that this was less about personal politics, or about blowing out steam on the ANC’s massive popularity with donors.

“It is about the fact that the ANC decided that it would capture the state, and the way to capture the state, as was agreed in the National Democratic Revolution; is to ensure that you deploy cadres that are loyal to the party, not to the citizens; is to ensure that you capture institutions of government.

“And, ultimately, you capture the party by making payments to members of the party,” he said

“This is the same movie,” Maimane said. Recent bank statements that allegedly show how members of the ANC, as well as the EFF, gained from the CR17 campaign proceeds, were leaked on Sunday.

These recent developments around the Bosasa-Ramaphosa saga, according to the DA leader, bear the markings of how things unravelled for Zuma when the Gupta family landed at the Waterskloof private airbase.

“[This movie] has been repeated over and over again. So, when you interrogate the emails, you discover the same modus operandi was in place.” he added.

Maimane explaned that the ANC has indctrinated its leaders to capture the state by:

  • capturing members of the party by paying them off;
  • letting them come on board and ensure that they get rewarded financially, others end up in government; and
  • compelling them to abandon priorities of the portfolio they have been shuffled to, to serve the leader or the party.

Maimane noted that the point is not to attack Ramaphosa, but the system of state capure. You can watch the full video where the DA leader explains how screwed we really are.
