Ahhh few things are more entertaining to watch than watching a video of a criminal who is errr, lacking in brains. You know, the ones who if they went to crime school would have to repeat grades multiple times. On a serious note, due to our countries huge levels of poverty, many people feel they have no other choice but to turn to a life of crime.
The general rule when working in a team though (criminal or otherwise) is “never leave a man behind,” not for these jewel thieves though…
A local gang robbed a jewllery store in Cape Town’s Athlone area, Gatesville shopping centre saw the captured thief almost make off with R50 000 in jewels. Local law enforcement say they were alerted to a robbery on Monday, they were told that suspects were in a white VW golf. After finding the golf, the gang went all out for the getaway.
“They searched the parking area and spotted the vehicle. The driver sped off but left one of his accomplices behind. The suspect tried to make a run for the departing vehicle but the long arm of the law got to him first.”
CCTV footage shows the rather hilarious moments the one robber tries to catch up with his colleagues in crime. With cops right on his tail though, the driver decided it was best to put his foot flat. It paid off for those in the car, police are still on the hunt for the rest of the group.
The footage also shows the specific moment the thief realises he has nowhere to go. He can be seen throwing the package of jewels to the ground seconds before officers tackle him to the ground. The man is now facing charges of armed robbery, check out the clip below.
