Yesterday, Brian Molefe stumbled his way through a tense line of questioning over state capture, and a ridiculous R30m golden handshake. But that was child’s play compared to what Lynne Brown is facing…

The Minister of Public Enterprises will be subject to a much more stern grilling, in the wake of allegations made by Zola Tsotsi just hours ago in Parliament.

State capture inquiry receives bombshell testimony

Eskom board members and linked public figures are giving testimony over the company’s role in state capture, to a portfolio committee in the National Assembly. If Brown’s task to answer difficult questions looked imposing before today, shit just got so much more real for her…

Former Eskom Chair Zola Tsotsi has blown the state capture investigation wide open. He shared a series of huge revelations that implicate Jacob Zuma, the Gupta brothers, and Lynne Brown herself in unduly influencing business at the energy giant.

Jacob Zuma ‘heavily involved’ in Eskom operations

Speaking this morning, Mr Tsotsi revealed that Jacob Zuma ‘gave his blessing’ to Dudu Myeni – an SAA chair with no internal influence on Eskom – to order Tsotsi into firing three executives at the firm.

To clarify: Jacob Zuma was directly involved in choosing a new board for one of South Africa’s biggest companies. This is a huge conflict of interest, and highly illegal for a President.

The depths of Zuma’s involvement also became clear when Lynne Brown comes into the picture. The President seemed in very close contact with the Minister, and was orchestrating high-level meetings on his own accord. Zuma even found himself in a position to cancel internal meetings being held by Eskom.

Tsotsi also collared Brown for meeting the Guptas at Saxonwold. She claims she’s never met the family, but Tsotsi’s testimony under oath suggests otherwise.
