We are just moments away from finding out who the next President of the ANC will be. The battle has gone down right to the wire, as Cyril Ramaphosa and Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma duel it out for the top spot.

Also being announced this evening will be the entirety of the ANC’s top six, who will form a team to govern the ruling party.

Where can I watch the ANC President announcement?

After a predictable series of delays and false starts, we are finally getting a conclusion to the conference that has drawn the attention of the entire world. The battle to replace Jacob Zuma has been a long, intense stretch that finally culminates on Monday evening.

We’ve been treated to singing, dancing, marathon speeches by the President, and a whole lot of anticipation. Early polls are suggesting than Ramaphosa has secured the victory by a comfortable margin. However, there may be trouble ahead before a Presidential stint has even begun for Mr Ramaphosa.

Cross Party Divisions

The man expected to win the Deputy Presidency is David Mabuza. He is, in many ways, Ramaphosa’s opposite political number. He was drafted on to the slate by Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma, and is very much a member of her camp.

He was also responsible for the ‘unity’ debacle that inadvertently gave their backing to Dlamini-Zuma. Instead of voting for candidates, Mabuza lead a campaign to vote for party togetherness instead – incredibly, unity won, throwing a spanner in the works for. Well, almost everyone.

The eyes of the world are now focused on Nasrec as history is set to unfold at the 54th ANC Elective Conference. Don’t miss out, the results are set to be announced ‘between 16:00 and 19:00’. We’ve got the live stream here for you, courtesy of eNCA
