After Tuesday’s public holiday, load shedding returned after a brief reprieve for South Africans, continuing at stage 2 and stage 3 in rotation until further notice.

Eskom had previously suspended load shedding until 05:00 on Wednesday, but it’s now back in full force, and once again testing the resilience of people living in Mzansi.

Nevertheless, South Africans generally have the ability to see the funny side of difficult situations, none more so than popular influencer and broadcaster Kuhle ‘Kookie’ Sonkosi.

Back to more serious matters

Minister in the Presidency responsible for Electricity, Kgosientsho Ramokgopa, is currently touring all of Eskom’s power stations to assess the state of the failing power system.

“The problem of load shedding will be resolved. Ultimately, the problem of electricity in this country will also be resolved,” Ramokgopa said.

“The problems and challenges that we have had here are technical problems, they have nothing to do with so-called corruption. I am going to meet with labour, I am sure they will raise other issues. But, with the issues on the units that have gone out as a result of the structural integrity and design components, they have nothing to do with corruption.

“This is everything to do with technical designs. There are significant modifications that they are making and I am happy with what they are proposing,” added Ramokgopa.
