Watch: Animated Mbalula slams Niehaus for ‘faking his mother’s death’

Fikile Mbalula delivered a fiery response to TV cameras on Tuesday afternoon, after he was questioned about his ongoing spat with Carl Niehaus. The MKMVA-affiliated politician has been calling for the Transport Minister’s arrest, but Mbaks has once again come out on the offensive.

Mbalula started the week with a tirade against Niehaus, and also slammed ANC Secretary-General Ace Magashule for ‘being complicit in criminal activity’. The outspoken Cabinet member berated Niehaus for allegedly faking the death of his own mother, and reiterated these claims during a live broadcast on Newzroom Afrika.

It was reported in 2017 that Niehaus had lied about his mother’s death, in a bid to escape debts he owed on his rent repayments. The supposed total owed was over R4 million. Niehaus has declined to comment, saying it was a ‘legal matter’. However, it seems Fikile Mbalula is more than happy to twist this particular knife:

“Carl Niehaus is employed at Luthuli House by Ace Magashule. I know he is employed there, I worked there – how can he deny it? Maybe his job description is to organise marches? Who knows… he attacks Ramaphosa every day. He insults our leadership all the time. If Fikile Mbalua doesn’t like a president, I still accept he is our leader. Our ANC cannot be vandalised.”

“Niehaus works in the office of Magashule. When will it stop? I am being chased by criminals. It is well documented he has faked his mother’s death. What next, will he fake his own death? I don’t have to report anything, because they have been coming for me. I will hold myself accountable to the ANC, but I am being targeted. I won’t allow people to do this.”
