Dashcam footage captured the moment a truck ploughed into cars and trucks on N3 on Tuesday afternoon.

In the footage, several vehicles are seen in traffic on the N3. Within split seconds, a truck at high speed is seen crashing into multiple cars in his path of destruction.

Motorists are advised that the N3 in KwaZulu-Natal is still closed after a multi-vehicle accident that claimed the lives of four women on Tuesday. Six cars and four trucks were involved in the collision.

MOTORISTS ARE ADVISED TO USE ALTERNATIVE ROUTES AS N3 IS STILL CLOSED

According to Medi Response spokesperson Paul Herbst said, by 15:30 on Tuesday after the N3 was still closed.

Motorists were advised to use alternative routes.

Paramedics found one of the cars stuck underneath the trailer of a truck. Sadly all four occupants, four women, showed no signs of life and were declared deceased on the scene.

FOUR WOMEN WERE KILLED IN THE HORRIFIC ACCIDENT

“Medi Response search and rescue division are currently on scene at a multi-vehicle collision involving six vehicles and two trucks. One light motor vehicle was swept beneath a truck and was severely damaged, killing all four occupants.”

He earlier said multiple patients were being treated on scene, and extrication of the deceased was ongoing.

Meanwhile, a truck driver was killed in an accident along the N3 Highway on Monday, 31 October. The incident occurred in the Peacevale area.

TRUCK DRIVER KILLED IN ACCIDENT

Emergency responders, START Rescue, said it was notified about the truck accident at approximately 17:45 on Monday.

It is alleged that the truck was heading from Durban towards Pietermaritzburg. The driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle and it crashed into the side of the bridge.

The impact of the crash saw the cab pull away from the rest of the truck. It fell over the side of the N3 bridge into the river about 50 metres below.
