Meanwhile, earlier this week a man died after he drank an entire bottle of Jägermeister to win R200 in the Blue Corner Car Wash & Liquor Restaurant tavern in Limpopo.

EARLIER THIS WEEK A MAN DIED AFTER DRINKING A BOTTLE OF JAGERMEISTER

According to police spokesperson Brigadier Motlafela Mojapelo, police are investigating an inquest.

“Police in Waterval outside Louis Trichardt have opened a case of inquest following an incident of apparent misuse of alcohol that took place at one of the local liquor outlets at Mashamba village where the patrons allegedly participated in what they called a “drinking competition”.

The winner who could consume the entire bottle of Jagermeister within a specified time would get R200.00 cash. One of them immediately collapsed thereafter and was taken to the local clinic where he was certified dead.”

POLICE ARE INVESTIGATING THE MATTER

Mojapelo said the incident allegedly happened on Sunday 10 July 2022 at about 23h30. Police investigations are continuing.

This comes shortly after 21 people were shot and killed at three taverns across the country recently.

In Gauteng, unknown gunmen stormed the Mdlalose tavern in Orlando East, leaving at least 15 people dead.

Scores of bullet cartridges were found at the scene, with AK-47 rifles clearly being used.

But an AK-47 can only take 30 ammunitions at a time, said Cele.
