Four suspects injured in Vanderbijlpark robbery

Four suspects have been injured after they were shot during a robbery they attempted to rob a business in Vandebijlpark, Gauteng.

Four men were injured following an armed robbery at a shop on Rusticana Road in Vanderbijlpark, Gauteng on Sunday, 19 June.


ER24 Paramedics reportedly arrived on the scene just after 20:00 to find local security forces and authorities already on the scene.

According to ER24, on closer inspection, medics found four men in the custody of the local authorities.

“Medics assessed the men and found that two had sustained serious gunshot wounds while another had moderate gunshot wounds. The fourth man had sustained only soft tissue injuries.

“The men were treated and later transported to a provincial hospital under the supervision of the local authorities. The exact details surrounding this incident are unknown, but local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.” 



In a separate incident, four armed men pounced at a business premises, kidnapped two men and hijacked the customer’s vehicle at the crime scene.

According to the South African Police Service (SAPS), On 16 June 2022 at about 18:30, a 40-year-old business owner of a supermarket at Tugela circle, St Helena, Welkom was allegedly approached by four armed unknown men. He reportedly managed to flee to the nearby flats.

“The suspects entered the premises and at gunpoint, kidnapped his brother and uncle. They forced the victims to get into the customer’s silver Polo Vivo with registration number CTR 213 NC, and fled the scene with it.

“The incident was reported to the Welkom Police Station and a case of kidnapping, business robbery and hijacking was registered for further investigation.”

Police have urged anyone with information to trace these kidnappers and trace the victims to contact Detective Sergeant Molelekeng Tsoeu of Provincial Organised Crime Unit on 065 820 6299 or Crime Stop number 08600 10111. Tip-offs can be submitted via the My SAPS App.
