Upcoming “electric” SA transport service looks set to rival Uber

ScooterRSA looks set to put a spin on the South African e-hailing transport market. They’re different from Uber and Taxify, and we’ll tell you why.

Alright, so we’re slowly moving through 2018 and by now, many South Africans are well aware of Uber and Taxify and use them regularly. While Taxify has had its safety issues Uber dominates the South African e-hailing transport market. Now, a different local player is entering the scene.

Scooter is set to launch in the local market soon. From the little they have seen so far, South Africans are absolutely loving it.

The app will work the same way as Uber except for the fact that an electric scooter with a roof will pick you up. The scooter will be able to take cargo as well as a passenger safely to their destination.

The best part? The business is proudly South African and is the brainchild of Fezile Dhlamini a man who says he was rejected by both Taxify and Uber.

Oh, aside from all those positives we listed above, the transport service will do no damage to the environment due to the scooters not using petrol.

While the company is still in its early stages, Dhlamini is currently in Sweden to purchase the first batch of vehicles to get the business going.

If you are interested in potentially using the service when it launches, Scooter’s website allows people to sign up to be notified where and when the service will launch.

South Africans on Twitter have been more than happy to support a local business “built by Africans for Africa.”

If you’ve been craving a change and are sick of Ubering for continuous short trips, Scooter might just be the business you’ve been waiting for.
