Western Cape police said a robbery which took place at Tyger Valley Mall on Wednesday morning is currently under investigation.

According to South African Police Service (SAPS) Sergeant Noloyiso Rwexana, five armed suspects fled the scene with cellphones and laptops.

WATCH: TWO STORES ROBBED IN TYGER VALLEY MALL

In the first video, the suspects can be seen gathering items in the Vodacom store in Tyger Valley Mall and then walking out one by one.

The last suspect can be seen with a large bag, practically running out the store. The video is shot from the upper level of the mall, essentially opposite the store. Those taking the videos, either employees of other retail stores or shoppers, can be heard discussing the incident. A man, standing near the railing looking over at the incident says; “Hier kom hulle” which translates to “here they come”.

The second video, taken from CCTV footage from inside the store shows customers and staff rushing to the edge of the shop to hide under tables as the masked men enter.

One suspect can also be seen pulling what appears to be a Tyger Valley Mall security guard into the store, making him get down on the ground. Suspects also appear to ask customers and staff for their personal belongings.

From there, one suspect walks out and more appear to come out of the back room with large bags in hand. Once they all appear to be gone, staff start to get up and close the doors of the store. The video ends there.

POLICE CONFIRM INCIDENT

Although police did not say which two retail stores were robbed, the videos clearly showed the Vodacom store. Here’s what police had to say:

“Bellville detectives are probing two business robberies which were perpetrated at retail stores opposite each other in a mall in Bellville this morning. According to information at our disposal, five armed suspects fled the scene with an undisclosed number of cellular phones and laptops in a red KIA sedan and a white LDV,” said Rwexana.

“All leads are being pursued to bring those responsible to book,” added Rwexana.

A twitter user, allegedly affiliated with Cellucity according to his bio, said the Chatz store and the Vodacom store at Tyger Valley Mall were robbed by “five aggressive armed males”.
