Two boys, aged 4 and 7, die in Cape Town fire

The bodies of two boys were found in a Bishop Lavis house by firefighters on Thursday. The fire was extinguished at 00:40.

The bodies of two young boys were found inside a house in Bishop Lavis, Cape Town late on Thursday, 5 May. They died in a fire.

TWO YOUNG BOYS DIE IN BISHOP LAVIS FIRE

The City of Cape Town’s Fire and Rescue Service were alerted to the fire, which broke out in Arthur Abrahams Avenue, shortly before midnight on Thursday.

“When crews from Belhar and Epping arrived on the scene, they were informed that two people were believed to be inside the house,” said Fire and Rescue spokesperson, Jermaine Carelse.

Eventually, firefighters found the bodies of the boys. They were aged 4 and 7.

The fire was contained and extinguished at approximately 00:40.

Carelse said the house the deceased were found in was severely damaged by the fire while another two houses sustained minimal damage.

“The cause of the fire is unknown and the scene was handed over to the South African Police Service,” said the Cape Town fire service spokesperson.
