According to ER24 spokesperson Russel Meiring paramedics, the NSRI and SAPS Diving unit were called to the scene on Monday shortly after 12h00 following reports of a light motor vehicle crashing through the barriers and landing in the river.
“On scene, the SAPS Diving Unit and the NSRI began to search the surrounding water. After some time, no bodies were found, and the search was called off.
He said on Tuesday SAPS Divers, and the NSRI continued the search. After a few hours, divers found the bodies of two men. Nothing could be done for them.
“The details of this incident are unknown, but authorities will investigate further.”
Police said it a case of culpable homicide will be opened for further investigation.
Meanwhile, a young cyclist in his mid 20’s, who was killed after he was pinned under the car and dragged for several meters on Saturday, was remembered for his warm personality and beautiful smile.
