TUT student, Ntokozo Xaba stabbed to death by ex-boyfriend

TUT student, Ntokozo Xaba’s body was found with stab wounds at her off-campus residence in Pretoria Gardens on Thursday morning.

Ntokozo Mayenzi Xaba was found with multiple stab wounds at her off-campus residence in Pretoria on Thursday morning.

FRIEND TELLS OF XABA’S FINAL HOURS

A friend of the late Tshwane University of Technology student Ntokozo Xaba, finally explained what happened during the final hours of the 21-year-old.

According to police, Xaba was drinking with friends, including her ex-boyfriend, on Wednesday evening.

The friends left Xaba with the man after he asked to speak to her alone. The following morning the friends found her with multiple stab wounds to the neck.

The friend said that they were hesitant to leave her with him as Xaba opened a case of assault against the man last year.

BLUE BULLS PRESIDENT SPEAKS OUT

The suspect represented Blue Bulls country districts in the 2022 season.

The Blue Bulls released a statement, saying that while they “do not know all the details about the incident, we wish to reiterate that we continue to stand in one voice, condemning all forms of gender-based violence in the strongest of terms”.

The president of the Blue Bulls rugby union, Willem Strauss sent his condolences to Xaba’s family.

“I would like to send my heartfelt message of condolences to a family whose world has been turned upside down — a family who [has lost] a branch from their tree that was filled with so much promise of all that is good about life.”

UNIVERSITY SRC CALLS FOR JUSTICE

The Student Representative Council (SRC) called on the law to move swiftly to bring justice to Xaba’s family and the student community.

“The killing of women has gotten out of hand. Unless the law acts swiftly, men – or whoever does it – will think they can get away with it.”

The council is concerned about the high levels of gender-based violence in tertiary institutions saying that it needs urgent attention.

Her distraught family said all Xaba wanted was to be great. They described her as an outgoing person who cared for others.
