While the coalition party, under the leadership of the DA, went to the Brooklyn police station to open a case of fraud against the disgraced former Tshwane mayor Makwarela, he resigned with immediate effect.

The date to elect a new Tshwane executive mayor is Wednesday at 10:00, 22 March 2023, at the Council Chambers.
