Tshwane provides bus services for 120 Salvokop children

The City of Tshwane will offer bus services to 120 children from the Salvokop Youth Development center to schools around the city.

THE CITY OF TSHWANE PROVIDES BUS SERVICES TO SALVOKOP

City of Tshwane Executive Mayor Randall Williams said this is in the spirit of giving back to their communities, particularly to learners.

“As we kick off the 2023 school calendar year, the City of Tshwane supported the Salvokop Drama Club with four buses to transport 120 children and 22 youth leaders from Salvokop in Pretoria West to Cullinan for their weekend camp.

He said the Salvokop Drama Club forms part of the Salvokop Youth Development Centre, a non-profit organisation that aims to create safe spaces for children residing in Salvokop.

CITY PLEASED TO HELP SALVOKOP CHILDREN

“As part of their initiatives, the club offers free after-school programmes for drama and dance.

“Having worked with the youth development in the past and seeing their positive impact, the city was pleased to offer a helping hand,” Williams said.

“Our multiparty coalition government fully supports community-driven programmes which seek to advance and develop youth through various arts, sport, education and skills training.”

The city said by working with the private sector and non-profit organisations, they can uplift communities and empower young people.

“I want to thank the MMC for Roads and Transport, Councillor Dikeledi Selowa and her office for facilitating the transport services for the children.

I also want to thank the club for keeping the youth occupied with meaningful activities.
