Tshwane hit and run leaves one cyclist dead and two more injured
A Tshwane hit and run has left one cyclist dead and a further two injured with Metro Police asking the driver of a white Tazz to come forward.

Tshwane Metro Police Department have made an appeal to a driver who allegedly ploughed into a group of cyclists before fleeing the scene on foot to hand themselves in.

Tshwane metro police department spokesman Senior Superintendent Isaac Mahamba said the incident happened in Centurion at around 6am on Good Friday (19 April).
“A motorist who was driving a Toyota Tazz collided with three cyclists, leaving one dead. Two other cyclists and a passenger of the Toyota Tazz were injured,” said Mahamba.

“We are appealing to the motorist to hand himself over so we can obtain a statement from him as to what happened. We know his identity,” Mahamba said.
Leaving the scene of an accident is prohibited under South African law even if the collision was not your fault. The law dictates that if even if the accident is not your fault, you need to stop immediately, help any injured people, exchange details and report the accident to the police within 24 hours.
One of the cyclists died on the scene while two others were taken to hospital to be treated for their injuries. The incident occurred on the R55, a busy thoroughfare that runs from Centurion to the outskirts of central Pretoria.
