Trespassers target SPCA’s dog food during loadshedding

Loadshedding has not only left the SPCA Randburg in the dark but also counting its losses due to ongoing theft.

The animal welfare organisation wrote on Facebook that it required help from the public in bolstering its security due to trespassers targeting the facility and stealing dog food.

LOADSHEDDING CRISIS FOR THE SPCA

“Sadly we have been targeted many times over the past few months in the evenings during loadshedding by people coming over the wall and stealing dog food,” said the SPCA Randburg.

As a result, this criminal activity has left the SPCA low on supplies.

“The safety and security of our after-hours staff and animals is paramount, as such, we are asking for your help in securing barbwire to put along our wall to stop people coming in.

We would also really appreciate a security company that could meet with us and assist us in determining the best system to keep our staff and animals safe and able to respond quickly in an emergency,” the SPCA appealed.

“As an NPO we are reliant on public donations for the running of the SPCA and unfortunately we just do not have sufficient funds for this important issue, any assistance will be hugely appreciated.”

With the recent incident involving the theft of dog food during loadshedding, the SPCA Randburg has reminded animal lovers to think of them when going shopping.

“We will be grateful for anything,” they said.

Furthermore, the SPCA Randburg also issued its banking details to any organisation or individual willing to donate funds to keep them running.
