A tree had fallen over during a storm crushing a taxi in the process. The driver was seriously injured as he was entrapped in the front cab.
A mini-bus taxi driver sustained serious injuries after a tree fell over and crushed his taxi in Bezuidenhout Valley in Johannesburg.
Netcare 911 emergency services said the driver was heavily entrapped in the front cab.
“At 15H09 Saturday afternoon, Netcare 911 responded to a collision on Bezuidenhout Avenue in Bezuidenhout Valley Johannesburg.”
Reports indicate that a tree had fallen over during a storm crushing a taxi in the process.
“When medics arrived on the scene, they found the mini-bus taxi driver having sustained serious injuries heavily entrapped in the front cab.”
On scene was the City of Johannesburg EMS, fire and Urban Search and Rescue.
“With assistance, the Netcare 911 specialised rescue team used hydraulic tools to free the man from the wreckage while Emergency Care Practitioners treated the injured driver.
“Once stabilised, the patient was transported by ambulance to a hospital for further care.”
Meanwhile, a man was killed after being ejected from his car in a single-vehicle accident on the M27 in Tea Estate, Inanda on Friday.
Reaction Unit SA spokesperson Prem Balram said the accident happened early on Friday morning.
“A passerby contacted RUSA at approximately 07:31 requesting assistance after they noticed the wreckage on the side of the road.
“Reaction Officers and RUSA paramedics were dispatched to the scene and on arrival noticed a man lying several meters away from a grey Volvo S40.”

Balram said the vehicle has Gauteng registration plates.
He furthermore said the 42-year-old was found to have suffered life-threatening injuries and died before the arrival of First Responders.
