The North West Department of Community Safety and Transport Management has released a report to prove its transparency over the procurement of donkey-drawn carts for R780 000.

PROCESSES FOLLOWED ON THE PROCUREMENT OF THE ANIMAL DRAWN CARTS

In the latest statement, the Department attached proof of the agreement with the service provider to prove the legitimacy of the project.

Two and half weeks ago, on Thursday, 3 November 2022, the Department of Community Safety and Transport Management handed over the animal-drawn carts to twenty beneficiaries in the Dibono and Mmanawana villages outside Mafikeng.

This was in line with Rural Transport Strategy (2016 p 37 and 38) on the Transport Policies and Strategies recommendation and support of the use of Non-Motorised Transport as a sustainable mode in rural areas, according to the department.
