Severe thunderstorms, veld fires, and strong winds are expected in parts of South Africa on FRIDAY.
The SA Weather Service (SAWS) issued a level 2 warning for severe thunderstorms for Friday.
“Localized flooding of susceptible roads, low-lying areas, and bridges. Localized damage to infrastructure, settlements (formal and informal), property, livelihood, vehicles, and livestock due to hail. Localized communication disruption.”

The following areas will be affected by the severe thunderstorms:
“If possible, stay indoors, away from metal objects. Move to high ground when you observe rising water levels.”

The SAWS furthermore issued a level 2 warning for damaging winds in the following areas of the country.

These areas will be affected:
“Difficulty in navigating at sea is possible due to strong winds, and quick successive steep waves can be expected.
“Small vessels and personal watercraft (e.g., kayaks) are at risk of taking on water and capsizing in a locality.”
Meanwhile, veld fire warnings were also issued for Friday in these areas:
The SAWS said conditions are such that the FDI index is above 75.
“Under these conditions, fires may develop and spread rapidly, damaging property and possibly losing human and animal life.”
It advised that fire teams should be on standby.
