Wet Nose recently rescued three donkeys that were being abused, misused, and malnourished from not being fed the correct feed to make money.

HAVE YOU EVER WANTED A DONKEY?

The Wetnose Rescue Centre said the donkeys are now up for adoption.

“It is, unfortunately, a fact that many people in poor areas have to find a way to make an income. Donkey carts are often employed to do so.

“This is, however, not very good for the donkeys, especially when the incorrect tack is used, and it leaves them full of sores that are not given time to heal before being hurt the next day again.”

It said these poor donkeys were worked to the bone, and one of their friends passed away after being hit by a truck.

“We managed to rescue these three donkey musketeers when they wandered off to the property of a kind-hearted family, who wanted to see the animals relieved from their life of pain and forced labour.

“Now they are at Wet Nose, where they are receiving much-needed love and attention that they were previously denied.”

It said the donkeys are very sweet and would like nothing more than a forever home where they can live without being put in harm’s way, a home where they won’t be riddled with recurring injuries from pulling carts all day.

Earlier this week, a beautiful black labrador named Sushi was recently rescued after being trapped in an underground drainpipe in Fairlands, Johannesburg.

AFTER NINE HOURS SUSHI WAS SUCCESSFULLY RESCUED

According to SCP Security, 14-year-old Sushi fell into the drain on Kessel Str, Fairland, on Thursday.

A member of the Fire Ops SA, Pako was lowered head-first into the pipe. He then crawled underground until he reached the dog.

“Pako spent approximately an hour underground, coming back up to excavate soil that was blocking the pipe and going back in until he reached Sushi, who was then brought up to safety,” Lieutenant Warren Bronner said.

It is believed Sushi was stuck in the pipe for approximately nine hours before she was eventually rescued.

Once rescued, Sushi was examined and evaluated by a vet who was on-site before she was allowed to go home with her owner.
