In a Facebook post on Monday, Motaung wrote: “So yesterday I was beaten by people whom I called my friends.” She added with a heartbreak emoji that “there’s a video of me naked and videos being beaten”.

The humiliating nighttime clip was shared on social media and shows a terrified Motaung attempting to flee from her attackers who surround and hit her in public.

They continually drag her back and forth by her underwear, while laughter and voices can be heard in the background.

It has also been alleged that the women sexually abused Motaung and took photos of her genitals

Motaung later wrote: “Just called the emergency services, they on their way, I can’t let this go, I’m very traumatized I didn’t deserve any of this.”

The LGBTIQ teen opened a case with the Khayelitsha police and the three suspects were arrested soon after.

A Facebook group called “justiceforthabiso” has been set up to rally support for the victim, who will be doing Grade 12 this year.

Activists and members of the LGBTIQ community gathered to show their support for Motaung on Friday when the three young women appeared in the Khayelitsha Magistrates Court.

Holding rainbow and transgender flags, they marched and sang on their way to the court, demanding swift justice for Motaung.

Despite calls for the suspects to be denied bail, two were released on R1,500 bail each.

The third, who is a minor, was released into the care of her guardian.
