In yet another stunning twist in the story of the Tembisa 10 decuplets, the family of the “father” have released a statement conceding that the children have not been seen or heard, and have therefore resolved that they are “non-existent”.

Tebogo Tsotetsi – the boyfriend of Gosiame Sithole – has told his family on Tuesday 15 June that other than WhatsApp messages from his girlfriend, he has not been able to verify the existence of the ten children.

Tembisa 10 declared non-existent

The Gosiame family released the statement on Tuesday evening, and said that the issue has been the source of “inconvenience and embarrassment”.

The Tsotetsi family met earlier today at their family house in Tembisa. With extended family members and close friends in attendance. They gathered to  received a report from Tebogo Tsotetsi.

“Tebogo confirmed that he has not seen the decuplets and relied on his girlfriend who called to inform him of their birth. He made several attempts to visit his girlfriend and the babies but she has failed to disclose her whereabouts and the condition of their babies,” they said.

“The current uncertainties and public discourse about the decuplets is of major concern to the family, especially in the absence of any proof of the decuplets existence other than telephonic and whatsapp messages from the mother.”

“The family has resolved and concluded that there are no decuplets born between Tebogo Tsotetsi and Gosiame Sithole, until proven otherwise and wishes to apologise for any inconvenience and embarrassment.”

Family ‘have never seen decuplets’

The family didn’t close the door on the possibility of the children being real entirely, but pointed to major flaws in the story, many of which have been substantiated elsewhere with medical sources from clinics Sithole told Tsotetsi she had visited denying ever seeing her.

In reaching their decision to declare the children as non-existent, the family wished to highlight the following;

  • Tebogo Tsotetsi informed Pretoria News and journalist Piet Rampedi of the decuplets based on the information he received from his girlfriend.
  • The family never claimed to have seen the decuplets and relied on the call and whatsapp confirmation from the girlfriend
  • The family lost contact with Gosiame Sithole and with her phone off they opened a case of a missing person.
  • Notes failed attempts to visit and see the mother and decuplets

Family remain concerned over Sithole’s whereabouts

The family said that they are in a state of distress, and maintained that Sithole remains missing.

“The matter remains very sensitive and worrying, especially with Gosiame Sithole’s whereabouts unknown and we call on members of the public to stop donating money into any bank accounts for the decuplets,” they said.

“We appreciate the public interests and support for the decuplets, and with no proof of their existence we firmly believe it’s in the interests of everyone to conclude that they do not exist, until proven otherwise. We will now shift our attention to finding Gosiame Sithole whilst praying for her safe return.”

Despite numerous attempts going back to Friday evening to convince the South African Police Service in Gauteng to verify that a missing persons case had been opened, they refused to give us an answer.
