Three men who are behind the killing of a man for his taxi are sentenced to life imprisonment for how the murder played out.

MAN ACCOSTED WHILE PARKING HIS VEHICLE

Nduduzo Ntuli, 31, had arrived at his home in Maphumulo, KwaZulu-Natal, at 20:00 on 30 June 2020. While parking his mini-bus, he was accosted by three men, police spokesperson Constable Thenjiswa Ngcobo said.

“The suspects wanted to take his taxi and he attempted to fight them off. They shot him and he was declared dead at the scene.”

But Ntuli’s father heard the gunshots. He immediately went out to investigate and successfully managed to hold down one of the suspects who shot his son. The other two accomplices fled, said Ngcobo.

“A case of murder was reported and investigated by Maphumulo police. The detective who was allocated the docket worked around the clock to ensure the perpetrators are brought to book.”

The three were handed their sentence by the Mtunzini High Court, Ngcobo said on Saturday. Mjaza was sentenced to life imprisonment for murder, 10 years for attempted carjacking and a further 10 years for unlawful possession of a firearm.

“His co-accused were each sentenced to life imprisonment for murder and a further 10 years for attempted carjacking,” said Ngcobo.
