Tanzania’s president has banned miniskirts to “help curb HIV”

Hashtags are all fun and games until somebody bans short dresses, right?

Tanzania’s president has banne

Now, we have had some good things to say about Tanzania’s president John Magufuli  before. He made headlines when he took to the streets to clean them up himself last year and for the cost-cutting measures introduced across the country.

However, this move might not sit so well with everyone. Kenya’s Standard Media is reporting he’s surprised the public once again, by banning miniskirts across the country because he reckons the garments, along with short dresses, encourage the spread of HIV/Aids.

The country also banned twerking last year with Cultural Development Director, Herman Mwansoko, saying it supposedly threatens original dances and impacted negatively on the new generation.

Twitter users had been using the hashtag #WhatWouldMagufuliDo to praise his good deeds and jumped on it as soon as this announcement was made.
