A suspended police officer was arrested after he allegedly abused his grandmother by urinating, vomiting, and using her pension grant.
The Independent Police Investigative Directorate (IPID)is investigating a case of assault and crimen injuria at Bohlokong against a suspended police officer.
According to IPID spokesperson Graca Langa, this comes after the suspended police officer urinated and vomited on his disabled 75-year-old grandmother.
“It is alleged that it is not the first time he abused his grandmother. He is arrested and detained at Bohlokong.”
Furthermore, she said it is alleged that the family is putting pressure on the grandmother to withdraw the case to save his grandson, the police officer.

“The police officer or grandson has allegedly been abusing her over the pension grant for a while. Other government stakeholder departments are involved in the matter and have submitted a report in this regard. The matter happened in Bohlokong, Bethlehem.”
Langa said the police officer is currently detained in Bohlokong Police Station in Bloemfontein.
She furthermore said the police officer was sanctioned last year and suspended for one month without pay, thus 1st until 31st October 2021 for theft in a different case.
The police officer appeared in court on Friday but was denied bail. The matter was postponed to 24 February 2022.
