Suspects wanted for gang-raping woman under a bridge

Police have released the identikits of two suspects (pictured) who are wanted for gang-raping a woman in Durban early this month.
THE AGE OF THE RAPED VICTIM IN DURBAN
Police spokesperson Constable Thenjiswa Ngcobo confirmed that Durban Central Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit detectives are seeking assistance in solving a case of rape they are investigating involving the pictured suspects.
It is alleged that on 5 May 2023, a 27-year-old woman was walking on St Georges Street to meet her friend when she was approached by two unknown men who threatened her with a knife.

“They pulled her towards Alexandra Street and gang raped her near the railway line under the bridge.”

CASE OPENED AGAINST THE WANTED SUSPECTS
She added that a case of rape was opened at Durban Central police station and the docket was transferred to Durban Central Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit for further investigation.
“Police believe that the males attached in an identikit can be of assistance in solving the case,” she said.
“We appeal to anyone who might have information regarding the men attached in identikit to contact the investigating officer Constable Khuzwayo on 061 332 1462/ 031 325 4016 or Crime Stop on 08600 10111,” Constable Ngcobo appealed.

GQEBERHA FCS UNIT MAKES A PUBLIC APPEAL
Meanwhile, the Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences unit in Gqeberha reported that it is seeking the community’s assistance in tracing a suspect wanted with a stubble beard.

It is alleged that he is wanted in connection with a rape that took place during the early hours of Sunday morning, 7 May 2023 in Chatty, Gqeberha.
An identikit of the suspect was compiled and he is approximately 1,6m tall and is between the ages of 25 and 30 years old.
