Police arrested two suspects hours after they broke into the same house twice, stealing items worth R300 000.

SUSPECTS BROKE INTO THE SAME HOUSE TWICE

The swift action by Kroonstad police detectives led to the arrest of two suspects in the early morning hours of 10 January 2023.

Police Spokesperson Sergeant Josephine Rani said a 26-year-old suspect and a 32-year-old suspect were arrested on charges of housebreaking and theft.

POLICE SAY THIEVES STOLE ITEMS WORTH R300 000

“The victim alerted the police, who immediately responded. A few hours later, after the victim had locked up his house and left, the suspects returned, broke in a second time, and stole items worth R300 000.”

“The victim informed the police, and the case was handed over to the Kroonstad detectives for investigation.”

Rani said the detectives followed leads and worked tirelessly to track down the suspects.

According to Rani, the leads led detectives directly to the suspects on Tuesday morning, 10 January 2023.

POLICE NABBED SUSPECTS AT A LIQOUR OUTLET

“The members worked tirelessly, leaving no stone unturned, and within hours ensured that justice was served.

“The duo were arrested at a liquor outlet around town having fun.”

SUSPECTS LED POLICE TO THE STOLEN ITEMS

Rani said on questioning the suspects, they led detectives to a flat where they kept some of the stolen items.

They also led the police to people who had bought some items.

They appeared in the Kroonstad Magistrate Court on Thursday, 12 January 2023, on a charge of housebreaking and theft.

POLICE SAY SUSPECTS MUST FEEL THEIR PRESENCE

Their case has been postponed to 19 January 2023 for a formal bail application.
