A suspect was KILLED after he opened fire on a reaction officer who drove upon a hijacking in progress in South Crest Ekurhuleni

Emergency services responded to a shooting opposite a service station on Paul Kruger Street in South Crest Ekurhuleni where a suspect was killed at 00:22 Sunday, 5 February.

Hijacking suspect killed in shoot-out

While doing his normal patrols, an armed response officer drove upon a hijacking scene.

A suspect then allegedly opened fire.

The reaction officer returned fire and hit one of the alleged suspects.

Medics arrived on the scene and found an adult man motionless on the ground.

After being assessed, the patient showed no signs of life and was declared deceased.

The driver of the car that was being hijacked was not injured.
