Suspect who stabbed ex-girlfriend to death arrested while in hiding

The suspect who allegedly stabbed a woman to death has been arrested at his hiding place around Mashishimale Tshube Village in Limpopo.

The suspect was arrested on Monday, 3 April after he allegedly stabbed his former lover multiple times with a sharp object in Namakgale on Saturday, 1 April.

SUSPECT NABBED FOR STABBING WOMAN TO DEATH

South African Police Service (SAPS) spokesperson in Limpopo Colonel Malesela Ledwaba said the arrest was made through the assistance of community members.

The suspect will appear before the Namakgale Magistrates Court on Wednesday, 5 April 2022 on a charge of murder.

As previously reported by The South African, police said they received a call about a woman who was allegedly stabbed to death by her ex-boyfriend and immediately rushed to the scene. Upon arrival, they found the victim lying in a pool of blood at an open field near Makhushane dairy.

Police said preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect asked the victim to meet him at an open field with the intention to hand over the items he bought for their minor child. The victim went to meet the suspect in the company of her 18-year-old niece.

It is further alleged that on their arrival, the suspect unexpectedly grabbed the victim and stabbed her numerous times with a sharp object and thereafter fled the scene on foot.

“The woman was found with stab wounds on the head and neck and was certified dead on the scene. The victim was identified as Judith Mathebula from Makhushane village,” Ledwaba said.
