These concerts will happen each Monday of June at 1pm at St Lawrence Jewry, Guildhall Yard, Gresham Street, London EC2V 5AA. They last for about 50 minutes.

So many people love to come into the peaceful atmosphere of this elegant 17th-century church designed by Christopher Wren.

Tessa Uys has been performing there for more than 30 years and her programme this year includes works by Scarlatti, Bach, Mozart, Schubert, Beethoven, Schumann, Janacek and Liszt. As well as those classics, there’s a special welcome for South Africans in London who are able to attend the recitals.

“If they let me know in advance, I promise to play Nkosi Sikelel’ iAfrika”, says Uys.

The piano in the church is quite special. It used to be owned by conductor Sir Thomas Beecham, before it was purchased by the church.

The nearest Underground is Bank (exit 9) and admission is free. For more information see: www.stlawrencejewry.org.uk
