Stephen King’s “The Dark Tower” is being filmed in Cape Town

It’s not really news that South Africa and Cape Town in particular, is a good place to shoot a movie. The weather nice, the exchange rate in the favour of international film companies and the country offers some lucrative tax breaks for making a movie here.
Still, when actor Katheryn Winnick popped up on Instagram in front of a trailer with The Dark Tower printed on it, your probably weren’t surprised, we couldn’t help but feel just a little blip of excitement.
The film is, obviously, based on an adaption of the novel of the same name written by Stephen King. King himself described it as a mix between The Lord of the Rings and old Western movies.
Winnick’s role in the movie has not yet been revealed, but at least she’s having a nice time in Cape Town.
The film also features Idris Elba and Matthew McConaughey. Neither have posted any Cape Town selfies or snapshots on social media, though…
