Babalo Ndwayana, the student whose belongings were urinated on by another student, will no longer be laying charges against the suspect. The first-year agricultural at Stellenbosch University’s father Mkuseli Kaduka revealed the decision recently.

The student’s father wants to lay charges on his behalf

Kaduka told the Weekend Argus that his son feels sorry for the student who urinated on his belongings.

“My son is now feeling sorry for the boy and he feels that a prolonged court case will make him lose focus on his studies. I’m looking at options of laying the charges myself on his behalf,”

Kaduka said.

On Monday, 16 May, it was reported that Ndwayana said he wanted to lay charges against the other student. His father said the young man had a change of heart after initially wanting to do so.

The suspect has been suspended

The headline-making incident allegedly took place over the weekend in the Huis Marais residence. The suspect has since been suspended. Spokesperson for the University Martin Viljoen shared the news on Monday afternoon.

“The alleged perpetrator was suspended from the university today. A further swift but detailed investigation will determine the final outcome. Expulsion and/or criminal charges are not excluded from the possible available options, based on the investigation’s findings,” Viljoen said.

Stellenbosch urination scandal: Guilty student SLAMMED for ‘awful apology’

A white student at Stellenbosch University has been accused of, quite literally, ‘taking the piss’, after he offered up an apology for his actions over the weekend. The youngster was seen on camera URINATING onto a black student’s belongings.

The video was taken at a Stellies residence and then circulated on social media. The incident reportedly happened on Sunday, 15 May 2022 around 4:00 at the Huis Maria building while the black first-year student was sleeping.

In the video, the black student can be heard asking the one peeing why he is doing so… ‘This is what we do to black students’, he reportedly said, fuelling unequivocal outrage on social media. How the offender gained access to the room remains up for debate, but whatever the motive, an apology was delivered during an emergency house meeting yesterday.  Read the full story here.
