Pretoria driver collides with electricity pole after experiencing seizure

Electricity wires were reportedly running across and beneath the vehicle which had an accident on Stellenberg road around Pretoria East.

A driver has caused a single vehicle accident on Stellenberg road in Pretoria East. 

It is believed that the driver of a vehicle had a seizure whilst driving and subsequently collided with an electricity pole.


Emer-G-Med paramedics quickly responded to the scene scene.  

“Paramedics first waited for the electricity department to declare the scene safe due to there being multiple electricity wires running across and beneath the vehicle. The patient was eventually transported to hospital by Emer-G-Med under ALS care” 



Meanwhile, a male motorist died after his SUV was found to have crashed into a concrete support structure of an overhead bridge in Umhlanga, Durban on Monday, 21 March. 

Paramedics responded to the M4 Ruth First Highway, south at the Lighthouse Road bridge.

Emer-G-Med said on arrival on scene an SUV was found to have crashed into the concrete support structure of the overhead bridge.

“A male motorist believed to be approximately forty years of age, was found severely entrapped in the wreckage with critical injuries. Advanced Life Support paramedics worked fervently to stabilise him whilst he was cut free using the Jaws-of-life.

“Reports from the scene are that the man went into a state of cardiac arrest shortly after he was extricated and despite extensive resuscitation efforts, he was declared dead on the scene.”


Recently, a 37-year-old hitchhiker was also killed when she attempted to cross the busy N2 in the vicinity of Sibaya Casino.

According to Reaction Unit SA (RUSA) spokesperson Prem Balram, the fatal accident happened around 11:37 on Sunday, 20 March 2022.

“A 37-year-old woman was killed after she was run over while attempting to cross the N2 in the vicinity of Sibaya Casino – KZN on Sunday.

“Passing motorists contacted Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) at approximately 11:37 requesting assistance for the pedestrian,” Balram said.
