Steers to open in London in July

Steers, South Africa’s quality flame-grilled burger brand will open its first restaurant in the UK this summer. Revered for its flame-grilled 100% pure beef patties and handmade chips, its first restaurant in Clapham, London will focus mainly on a take-away offering.

The UK menu will be based on that of South Africa’s, with familiar favourites such as the King Steer Burger and Rave Burger.  Also included in the UK menu is the new delicious Steers flame-grilled periperi chicken.

The Steers brand was launched in the 1960s and since then has been serving quality flame grilled burgers and handmade chips to millions of customers each year.  Steers has developed over the past 53 years to become a leading burger brand with 505 restaurants in South Africa alone and 43 additional locations across Africa.

Famous Brands Limited (owners of the Steers brand) CEO, Kevin Hedderwick said, “We’ve always considered exporting Steers to the UK, fuelled by the constant requests from many expatriates living in London craving a taste of home.  Having looked at the market we believe that the quality, freshness and taste of our flame-grilled products will create as much excitement and recognition in the UK as in South Africa.”

Steers has consistently won awards for its quality fast food, ranked ‘Best Burger’ and ‘Best Chips’ consecutively for the past 17 and 14 years respectively by Leisure Options Best of Jo’burg.

The Clapham restaurant is due to open the first week of July.
