Aside from Wednesday night’s power debacle, Jacques Pauw has revealed that the State Security Agency (SSA) has made a second attempt to remove his book. On Tuesday, the agency sent a second cease and desist letter, demanding all copies of The President’s Keepers be taken off the shelves.

This time, though, the letter was sent to the book’s title editor Russel Martin. Pauw announced that the new letter Gave them two days to withdraw the book or he could face being taken to court.

“I’m not trying to make a joke out of this. I might have to spend the next few years in court. There is a still going to be big action from law enforcement agencies… The legal reaction in the moment shows a complete idiocy in the law enforcement agency at the moment,” he said.

“The tide has started and nothing is going to stop it,” Pauw said.

Lawyer Willem De Klerk confirmed to News24 that Martin had received the “threatening” letter.

“It was a demand exactly like the previous one but addressed to Martin. It was completely misplaced. He merely edited the book. He had no part in writing the book or the decision making.”

De Klerk has since written to the SSA telling them Martin had no role in the information in the book.

The original cease and desist letter addressed to Pauw and NB Publishers demanded the book be removed within five days. Those days lapsed on Monday and thousands more of the books have sold since then. Exclusive Books have even confirmed that they have ordered more books that have been specially printed over the weekend to meet the demands.
