Libbok was born in Humansdorp in the Eastern Cape in 1997.

What is the HPR drink?

Candice De Mendonca, personal trainer and sports nutritionist said that the HPR drink is chiefly meant for athletes as a convenient protein drink, according to Bizcommunity. It targets both amateur and professional athletes or sportspeople. HPR has a strong presence in the recovery drinks market. The drink comes in a recyclable container and supports muscle repair and glycogen replenishment.

Springbok rugby player Manie Libbok endorsed as part of his collaboration with the dairy company the drink:

“Being a professional rugby player, I’ve always been passionate about optimising performance and recovery. When I discovered First Choice HPR and learned about its high-quality ingredients and proven benefits, I was immediately drawn to the opportunity to represent a product that aligns so closely with my values and goals as an athlete.”

How the Springbok rugby player is helping the brand

According to Maccaferri, Libbok’s reputation as a successful rugby player attracts attention from rugby fans and the broader sports community. This is ideal for their target audience – athletes and sports enthusiasts. Having a World Cup-winning Springbok rugby player endorse HPR enhances the product’s credibility and undoubtedly strengthens the marketing message about the product.

Maccaferri added that Libbok ‘is an inspiration to the youth of our country’ and so, his opinion matters and his approval of the drink carries significant weight.

Libbok’s rugby career highlights

Libbok’s performance in the debut United Rugby Championship (URC) season led to international recognition. He made his test debut for the Springboks against France and retained his place in the side, earning selection for the 2023 World Cup. The Springbok rugby player featured in the quarter and semi-finals of the tournament as the Springboks defended their title. Libbok has since returned to play for the Stormers in the URC and Champions Cup.

After rejecting offers in France at the end of last season, Libbok has signed a contract extension with the Stormers until 2027. Libbok helped the Stormers to the inaugural URC title in the 2021-22 season.

Stormers head coach John Dobson is very happy with his fly-half’s decision to stay in Cape Town. Dobson praised Libbok and called him ‘one of the best players in the world’.
