On Sunday, current Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa publically revealed who he would have in his ANC “top 6” if he were to become president of the ANC in December. South Africans were caught completely by surprise as Minister of Science and Technology Naledi Pandor was announced as Ramaphosa’s pick for Deputy President.

With many expecting Lindiwe Sisulu to eventually end up as Ramaphosa’s Deputy, South Africans took to social media to comment on the Pandor news. We gathered some of the most noteworthy responses from Twitter.

Axed minister of tourism and ANC MP Derek Hanekom is clearly still behind team Ramaphosa.

Other South Africans were a bit too focussed on the accents of Pandor and Ramaphosa…

See this video below for reference to the picture, COPE MP Willie Madisha refereing to Naledi Pandor’s accent.

Many were impressed by Pandor and her “corruption free” slate.

This person was happy with the choice, but didn’t think it would be enough to keep the ANC in power.

Of course, others were not happy with Ramaphosa’s decision at all…
