What’s happening with the state capture inquiry?

A lot. On Thursday, lead investigator Raymond Zondo confirmed that Duduzane Zuma would cross-examine Mcebisis Jonas, whereas Jacob Zuma was forced to break his silence on the matter. Msholozi confirmed he’d give “his side of the story” to Zondo after consulting his legal team. Popcorn at the ready…

US Dollar to rand value and exchange rate

After taking a battering last week, the rand has somewhat stabilised. It is now comfortably under the $15 mark and begins the business day on $14.76. It’s also managed to claw some ground back on the British pound, where it’s now worth £19.38

Trollip battles in court

Meanwhile, ousted Nelson Mandela Bay metro mayor Athol Trollip isn’t going down without a fight. The DA man is in court to get his removal legally overturned. However, he’s coming up against Dali Mpofu – the advocate is representing Victor Manyati and the defence.

No-one wants John Steenhuisen breathing down their necks, but that’s the reality for a handful of ANC MPs. The DA chief whip believes they’ve been accepting bribes – in the form of home security upgrades – from Bosasa, in exchange for favourable treatment. Here’s John’s hit list:

Space X are going to the moon

Elon Musk’s space exploration company are pushing the boundaries even further now. Those with a bit of moolah will soon be able to enjoy a flight to the moon and back on board the BFR launch vehicle. More information is due on Monday, but SpaceX made this statement on Thursday:

“SpaceX has signed the world’s first private passenger to fly around the Moon aboard our BFR launch vehicle, an important step toward enabling access for everyday people who dream of travelling to space.”

SA student caught smuggling R10 million

Crime doesn’t pay, even if your suitcase is stuffed with dollar bills. A South African student is facing a hefty jail sentence for trying to smuggle $630 000 in unmarked bills from OR Tambo to Hong Kong.
