Double farm murder: Husband and wife killed – trio arrested
Three suspects were arrested on 9 January in connection with the murder of an elderly couple in Piet Retief.

The police in Mpumalanga have arrested three suspects in connection with an alleged double farm murder and a house robbery in Piet Retief.
DOUBLE FARM MURDER
South African Police Service (SAPS) spokesperson in Mpumalanga Brigadier Selvy Mohlala said three suspects – aged 24, 35 and 45 – were arrested on Sunday, 9 January for allegedly shooting and killing an elderly couple aged 66 and 63 years old, respectively.
The same suspects are believed to be responsible for an alleged robbery on 16 December 2021 at Susana Farm in Piet Retief, said Mohlala. The value of the stolen items is an estimated R55 200.
The suspects appeared in the Piet Retief Magistrate’s Court and were remanded in custody until Monday, 17 January.
